Ride. Walk. Play. Explore. Connect. A New Orleans celebration of movement, music, family, and community.

What happens when we bring bicycles, music, games, families, and neighbors together in one of New Orleans' shared public spaces? We create something much bigger than a festival.

We create opportunities for people to connect, experience their city differently, and build memories that become part of our community's story.

The Crown Legacy Program is excited to support and collaborate with the Big Easy Bicycle Fest, a New Orleans community celebration returning on Sunday, November 29, 2026, at Lemann Playground on the Lafitte Greenway.

The festival brings together bicycle riding, games, music, and community activities under a simple and welcoming invitation: Walk. Bike. Play. Explore. Connect.

For Crown Legacy, supporting efforts like this reflects something important about our mission. Culture is not limited to what we hang on walls, publish in books, or perform on stages. It also grows through the experiences we share, the relationships we develop, and the spaces we create for people to come together.

More Than Bicycles: A Celebration of Community

New Orleans has always understood the relationship between movement and culture. Our second lines turn streets into celebrations. Our neighborhood festivals transform ordinary spaces into gathering places. Our music invites people to participate, whether they are dancing, playing an instrument, or simply enjoying the moment.

The Big Easy Bicycle Fest carries that spirit into a celebration centered on cycling and shared experiences.

The festival has been part of New Orleans' community event landscape for several years, with documented celebrations on the Lafitte Greenway in 2022 and at Lemann Park in 2023.

Bicycles are an important part of the experience, but the invitation extends beyond cycling enthusiasts. The festival highlights games, music, recreation, and opportunities to connect with others.

A child discovering the excitement of riding alongside others, a parent spending an afternoon outdoors, or neighbors meeting through a shared activity may experience the day differently. Yet each is participating in something that helps communities grow: the simple act of being together.

These experiences matter because community relationships rarely emerge from programs and policies alone. They are also built through enjoyment, familiarity, trust, and the shared experiences that encourage us to recognize one another.

Why the Lafitte Greenway Matters

The festival's setting is an important part of its story.

The Lafitte Greenway is a 2.6-mile walking and bicycling corridor connecting neighborhoods across New Orleans. It offers spaces for recreation, public art, exercise, community programming, and everyday transportation.

More than a pathway, the Greenway is an example of how public spaces can connect people who might otherwise have few opportunities to interact.

The Lafitte Greenway Partnership works with residents and the City of New Orleans to support the corridor as a vibrant, accessible public space.

Events like the Big Easy Bicycle Fest demonstrate another possibility for these shared spaces: bringing community members together through activities that celebrate local life.

When public spaces are welcoming, they can become places where children develop confidence, families build traditions, artists share their talents, and neighbors discover common interests.

That is a kind of community infrastructure worth celebrating.

Why Crown Legacy Is Supporting This Effort

At the Crown Legacy Program, we believe that cultural legacy belongs to the people who create it. Part of our mission is ensuring that the work we support, along with the value, recognition, and opportunities it creates, remains connected to the communities we serve and create with.

Our work includes storytelling, creative education, digital arts, cultural preservation, and programs that encourage people to recognize the importance of their own experiences.

We also recognize that cultural participation can begin long before someone identifies as an artist, writer, performer, or cultural creative.

It can begin when a child learns something new, when a family participates in a neighborhood celebration, or when someone discovers a sense of belonging through a shared experience.

That is why we are interested in collaborating with community initiatives like the Big Easy Bicycle Fest.

We see opportunities to encourage greater participation in local culture, strengthen connections across generations, and recognize how recreation, creativity, and neighborhood life contribute to the communities we share.

Supporting culture also means supporting the places and experiences where culture grows.

A Community Celebration Worth Sharing

The festival's message is straightforward: Walk. Bike. Play. Explore. Connect.

Each word represents a different way to participate.

Some people will come for the bicycles. Others will be drawn by the music, games, and opportunity to spend time with friends and family.

For others, the experience may simply offer an opportunity to enjoy one of New Orleans' public spaces and connect with people they might not otherwise meet.

Those connections can have value long after an event ends.

We encourage families, neighborhood organizations, artists, educators, community advocates, cycling enthusiasts, and anyone interested in strengthening local connections to learn more about the Big Easy Bicycle Fest.

We also encourage other cultural and community organizations to recognize the opportunities that emerge when we support one another's work. Collaboration does not always require creating something entirely new. Sometimes it begins by bringing attention, participation, and encouragement to something already happening in our neighborhoods.

Help Us Spread the Word

One of the simplest ways to support community initiatives is to make sure people know they exist.

Share the festival announcement with friends and family. Encourage neighborhood groups, cycling clubs, youth organizations, community centers, and local businesses to help spread the word.

If you know someone who would enjoy a day celebrating New Orleans' community life, invite them to learn more.

And if you are an artist, organizer, educator, or community advocate interested in collaborating on future cultural activities, we welcome those conversations.

The Crown Legacy Program continues to seek opportunities to work alongside individuals and organizations whose efforts strengthen cultural participation, community relationships, and local opportunity.

Moving Forward, Together

New Orleans is celebrated around the world for its music, festivals, food, traditions, and creativity.

Yet much of what makes our city extraordinary begins in smaller moments: neighbors gathering, children playing, families sharing an afternoon, and people discovering they have something in common.

The Big Easy Bicycle Fest reminds us that community culture is something we experience and help create together.

We look forward to supporting this celebration and exploring ways to collaborate with the people who make it possible.

Let's continue building a New Orleans where recreation, creativity, culture, and community connection belong to everyone.

Be Heard. Be Featured. Be Remembered.
